Will cowashing (washing my hair with conditioner) cause hair loss?

Cowashing itself will not cause hair loss when CG approved products are used. Make sure you use a light-weight conditioner, and a scalp brush to clean your scalp.

IS IT A LOT OF WORK?

There is a bit of a learning curve in the beginning. It can take some patience and trial and error to find the products and techniques that work well for your hair. After that it becomes your shower routine and it is worth it!

HOW STRICT DO I HAVE TO BE?

According to the Handbook, in order to be following the Curly Girl Method, you need to avoid sulfates, silicones, drying alcohols, and heat.
If you dont use sulfate and you use products with silicones, they will build up in your hair causing hair problems. Eventually, you won’t have the desired Hairtastic effect you are looking for.

WHAT DO I DO IF I ACCIDENTALLY USE A PRODUCT WITH SILICONE?

It’s not the end of the world. If the product was used many times, wash with a sulfate shampoo and deep condition your hair after.
If used one time only, you can lowpoo and continue your routine as usual.

WHAT DO I DO AFTER DYING MY HAIR?

Clarify your hair, then use a deep treatment up to 2 times per week until your curls are restored.

HOW DO I SLEEP SO MY CURLS STILL LOOK GOOD THE NEXT day?

You can protect your curls by tying up your hair (in a pineapple) or by wearing a satin cap , or sleeping on a satin pillow case. These ways can be combined, feel free to experiment!

HOW DO I REFRESH MY HAIR?

Every curly girl has her own refreshing routine here are some ideas for you to experiment with:

Dry refresh: Apply a cream based product on your hair
Wet refresh: Spray your hair with enough water, apply your favorite styling products.
Refresh products: Use the product to work through your curls until you are satisfied
